India has officially confirmed that it has been invited to take part in a maritime initiative led by the UK and France to protect transit through the Strait of Hormuz, which saw closure and blockade by Iran and US. Countries have intensified efforts to ensure the security of the strait, which facilitates nearly 20% of the global oil trade.
