India building artificial Sun in Gujarat

India's quest to build "artificial Sun" has taken a major step with installation and commissioning of an 82.6 GHz, 400 kW gyrotron on SST-1 tokamak at Gujarat’s Institute for Plasma Research. SST-1 is experimental fusion machine designed to recreate process that powers Sun by heating plasma to extreme temperatures and confining it with powerful magnetic fields inside its doughnut-shaped chamber.
