Panvel civic body holds Lokshahi Din, resolves grievances

Panvel Municipal Corporation, under Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Mangesh Chitale, conducted Lokshahi Din to address public grievances. Seven applications related to civic services were submitted, and Commissioner Chitale instructed immediate resolution by concerned departments. The administration resolved all ten previous complaints, confirming "no pending complaints".

Calling on India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint, Guterres stated, "Make no mistake: A military solution is no solution."

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) physicists have captured the first images of individual atoms freely interacting in space. The researchers produced images of bosons and fermions, the two major families of quantum particles. Their findings have been published in journal Physical Review Letters. I'll help scientists visualise never-before-seen quantum phenomena in real space, MIT said.

Govt asks several states to conduct mock drills for civil defence on May 7, lists 5 measures

The MHA has asked several states to conduct mock drills for civil defence on May 7 following the Pahalgam attack. The government has listed five measures that will be undertaken. They are operationalisation of air raid warning sirens, training civilians and students on civil defence, enforcing blackout protocols, camouflaging vital installations, and updating and rehearsing evacuation plans.

CSK have signed Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel as replacement for wicketkeeper-batter Vansh Bedi, who has been ruled out of remainder of IPL 2025 owing to a ligament tear in left ankle. Urvil had smashed the joint-fastest T20 hundred by an Indian off 28 balls in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match last year. Urvil has a T20 strike-rate of 170.38.

Team India fast bowler Mohammad Shami has received a death threat via an email from a man named Rajput Sindhar. The man has demanded a ransom of ₹1 crore. Shami's brother lodged a complaint at police station in Amroha after which an FIR was filed. The police are investigating the matter.

Former MI cricketer Shivalik Sharma arrested in rape case

Ex-Mumbai Indians (MI) cricketer Shivalik Sharma has been arrested in a rape case in Rajasthan. Shivalik's ex-fiancée had filed a case against the 26-year-old cricketer in Rajasthan's Jodhpur. In her complaint, she had claimed that Shivalik raped her on the pretext of marriage in 2024. She also claimed that Shivalik's parents insulted her when she visited them to discuss marriage.

New organism that can conduct electricity discovered

Researchers have discovered a new species of bacteria that can conduct electricity, a study published in the journal Applied and Environmental Microbiology said. The species named Ca. Electrothrix yaqonensis is a cable bacteria which was discovered along the coast of Oregon in the US. The bacteria is made up of rod-shaped cells linked end to end.

Escalating India-Pak tensions to hamper Pakistan's growth, India to remain stable: Moody's

Amid rising tension between India and Pakistan, Moody's Ratings warned it would weigh on Pakistan's growth. "Persistent increase in tensions could impair Pakistan's access to external financing and pressure its foreign-exchange reserves, which remain well below what is required to meet its external debt payment needs," it stated. India's macroeconomic condition would remain stable, Moody's added.

ICC releases annual rankings; India on top in ODIs, T20Is

The ICC released the annual men's team rankings on Monday. India are on top in ODIs and T20Is, while they are placed fourth in the Test rankings. In Test rankings, Australia are on top with 126 rating points, while England are second with 113 rating points. Further, New Zealand are ranked second in ODIs, while Australia are second in T20Is.

Israel approves plan to capture all of Gaza

Israel has approved a plan to capture the entire Gaza Strip and remain in the territory for an unspecified amount of time, two Israeli officials said. This comes after Israeli military chief said the army was calling up tens of thousands of reserve soldiers. The new plan is meant to help Israel defeat Hamas and free hostages held in Gaza.
