Indian insurers are issuing parametric insurance to people who spend extended hours outdoors for their jobs. Parametric insurance automatically pays when predefined weather conditions, like temperature levels and consecutive heatwave days, are met. India reportedly lost 247-billion labour hours due to extreme heat in 2024, translating to $194-billion loss, which parametric insurance may plug.
