Punjabi University students confront minister over fee hike, ₹150-crore debt

Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh faced a protest by students at Punjabi University in Patiala over the deteriorating financial condition of the institution. The protesters demanded that the government waive the university's debt of around ₹150 crore. They confronted him over a hike in tuition and hostel fees, poor condition of classrooms and hostel rooms and lack of basic amenities.
