India may cut sugarcane use for ethanol to control record prices: Report
India is considering restricting sugarcane use for ethanol production from October to boost sugar output and curb record-high prices, Reuters reported. Weak rainfall in Maharashtra and Karnataka has raised concerns over next year's sugar output. Mills diverted about 3 million metric tons of sugar, or 10% of total production, to ethanol during the year ending September, according to industry data.
