What are the risks of using heaters or blowers in closed rooms during winters?
short by Dharini Mudgal / on Friday, 9 January, 2026
Consultant pulmonologist Dr Manas Mengar said blowers and heaters consume oxygen from the air. In poorly ventilated or closed spaces, oxygen levels drop, and harmful gases can accumulate, stressing the lungs and brain. Reduced oxygen can cause hypoxia, with its early symptoms including headache, dizziness, fatigue, confusion, anxiety, dry throat, burning eyes and nausea.
