The Indian Railways cancelled nearly 9,000 train services this year, according to an RTI reply. Of these, more than 1,900 train services were cancelled from March to May for the movement of coal, the Railways said. The Railways also said that it had cancelled 6,995 train services for maintenance work or for construction purposes.
