Tax audit applicability under Section 44AB of the Income Tax Act, 1961, depends on turnover, gross receipts and compliance with prescribed conditions rather than merely the type of income earned, according to News18. Businesses require an audit if their sales, turnover or gross receipts exceed ₹1 crore in a financial year. Doctors and architects may also fall under the provisions.
