At least 1.27 crore bedroll items were stolen from train AC coaches between January 2022 and May 2026, Indian Express reported. A linen attendant claimed ₹300 is deducted from his salary for every stolen bedsheet, with monthly deductions reaching ₹3,000-₹4,000. Notably, a railway spokesperson said agencies handling linen are responsible for shortages, and the cost is recovered from their bills.
