Mumbai auto, taxi unions seek fare hike after CNG rates rise

Autorickshaw and taxi unions in Mumbai demanded an immediate fare hike after Mahanagar Gas Limited raised CNG prices by ₹2 per kilogram across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Unions said rising fuel costs have pushed up autorickshaw running expenses. They have sought a ₹1 increase in auto fares and ₹2 hike in taxi fares to offset mounting operational costs.
