Anthropic found that Claude models have developed J-space, a collection of neural patterns that allow them to think silently, much like the human brain. "J-space wasn't designed or programmed by us, but...emerged on its own during Claude's training," Anthropic said, noting that this means Claude can now "think" without writing anything down. Claude uses J-space for internal reasoning, it added.
