In pics: India celebrates Dussehra

Dussehra was celebrated across India on October 20, with people burning giant effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghanada to symbolise the triumph of good over evil. Some also performed 'shastra puja' on the occasion. The festival coincides with Vijayadashami, celebrated in eastern, southern and other parts of India to mark Goddess Durga's victory over the buffalo demon Mahishasura.
