Over 1,000 workers and 1,600 students were evacuated after a major leak of toxic oleum gas at a chemical unit in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Monday. The leak started around 2 pm and was brought under control at 6:45 pm, officials said. A dense white cloud spread rapidly across a three to five-kilometer radius, with residents reporting minor eye irritation.
