A new University of Cambridge study has suggested comets were unlikely to have delivered the molecular building blocks needed for life on Earth. Researchers found that comets travel too fast and hit at sharp angles, causing fragile organic molecules to vaporise on impact. The study further suggested that asteroids or chemical processes on Earth itself may have supplied these molecules.
