After Australia banned social media for children under 16, Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales called the move an "unmitigated disaster" and an "embarrassment". He said it is teaching children to accept surveillance from tech companies when they go online. "When it comes with demands that we adults have to...identify ourselves with personally identifying information...this is madness," he further said.
