Brent oil briefly crossed $80 per barrel on Monday amid Middle East tensions. It is currently trading around $76 per barrel, while US crude is priced around $70 per barrel. Global oil supplies could take a hit as the Strait of Hormuz, through which around a fifth of the world's seaborne oil trade passes, has reportedly been blocked by Iran.
