The Supreme Court said caste-based abuses made inside private residence and outside public view wouldn't attract offences under SC/ST Act. It stated abuse taking place "within public view" is an essential ingredient for offences under the Act. It said this while hearing plea seeking quashing of FIR against four members of a family in Delhi over allegations of caste-based abuse.
