Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, expressed disapproval after Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi performed Gurbani Kirtan (religious hymns) at a gathering in Jammu. He labelled Jassi "unfit" to perform kirtan in a formal religious setting, after which Jassi replied, saying he would follow the instructions of the Jathedar and appealed for calm and unity.
