The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which replaces the Indian Penal Code (IPC), introduces a handful of new crimes, including sexual intercourse through "deceitful means". Murder on the grounds of race, caste, or community (lynching) and organised crime and terror have been recognised as offences. Snatching has been brought in as a crime separate from theft.
