The Philippine eagle, which hunts monkeys and other forest animals, is on the verge of extinction and is listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List. Standing nearly three feet tall with a wingspan of over six feet, the species is found only in the Philippines. Fewer than 500 adults remain, with habitat loss and hunting driving the decline.
