The Union Cabinet on Saturday approved a 2% hike in dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners, taking the overall rate to 60%. For an employee with a basic pay of ₹50,000, the latest hike adds ₹1,000 per month to their salary. The move is expected to benefit about 50.46 lakh central government employees.
