Melting Arctic sea ice is making Northern Sea route increasingly accessible as geopolitical conflicts disrupt Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea. The passage along Russia's Arctic coast connects Asia and Europe and can reduce travel time from around 40 days to about 20. Shorter routes can lower fuel use and costs, prompting shipping companies to begin regular services through Arctic.
