GST Council may lower tax on food delivery charges by e-commerce players such as Zomato and Swiggy to 5% from 18%, CNBC-TV18 reported. The tax cut, which may take effect retrospectively from January 1, 2022, would disallow delivery platforms from claiming input tax credits, the report added. Recently, Maharashtra's GST department imposed a tax demand of ₹803.4 crore on Zomato.
