Hyperlocal chain - Vishal Mega Mart failed due to lack of senior management and excessive reliance on cash operations. It was sold at a heavy loss at Rs 70 CR. Its founder - Ram Kumar did not back down and built another chain - V2 Retail. Today, it is valued at Rs 1000 CR and has 100 stores.
