The glaciers in Switzerland are melting at an alarming rate amid the intense heatwave across Europe, the head of Glacier Monitoring in Switzerland (GLAMOS), Matthias Huss, said. The snow and ice accumulated last winter by Switzerland’s glaciers have all melted away by June 29. Huss claimed one metre of ice melted in the vertical direction in just ten days.
