Fact-checking unit of Ministry of External Affairs refuted a report that said that "India emerges as a likely next country to recognise Somaliland". The government called the report "misleading". This comes after Israel became the first country to recognise Somaliland as a sovereign state. Somaliland broke away from Somalia in 1991 and has its own government and currency.
