A Harvard study found that AI often outperformed physicians at diagnosing complex, potentially life-threatening emergency room (ER) cases. In early ER cases, AI identified the correct or a very close diagnosis in about 67% of cases, compared with roughly 50% to 55% for physicians. OpenAI's o1 preview model was tested in the study.
