Russia said it wants a long-term peace deal on Ukraine that addresses the root cause of the conflict and not a quick US-backed ceasefire. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that a quick ceasefire without long-term settlement would lead to a swift resumption of fighting and a renewed conflict with even more serious consequences.
