What can a loan defaulter do if a recovery agent harasses them?

Loan default does not cancel a lender's right to recover dues, but recovery must comply with the law. Borrowers facing harassment should preserve evidences, industry expert Anshi Shrivastava said. Complaints should first be raised with the lender's grievance-redress mechanism and, if unresolved, escalated through RBI's complaint mechanism. Serious threats or violence should be reported to police.
