Publishers sue Meta for pirating their work to train Llama AI

Publishers including Hachette, Macmillan and Elsevier sued Meta in a US court for copyright infringement of their books and articles during training of its AI model Llama. The publishers, along with author Scott Turow, allege that Meta pirated their works and used them without permission. Meta had briefly considered licensing deals with publishers but changed its strategy, the complaint said.
