CIA turncoat Aldrich Ames, who sold US secrets to the erstwhile Soviet Union, died in a Maryland prison at 84 while serving a life sentence. Ames had admitted to receiving $2.5 million from Moscow between 1985 and his arrest in 1994, and is believed to have compromised over 100 US clandestine operations. He was arrested by the FBI in Virginia.
