Police registered an FIR against four MNS workers after a purported video showed them slapping a security guard in Mumbai on Monday for allegedly disrespecting Marathi. The altercation began when the guard got into an argument with a local Marathi speaker and was asked to speak in Marathi, reports said. Later, the guard was seen apologising with folded hands.

Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district and resorted to unprovoked firing on Tuesday. The Nangi Tekri Battalion, operating under the Krishna Ghati Brigade, retaliated decisively to the unprovoked attack, an Indian Army spokesperson said. Actor Val Kilmer, known for his roles in 'Batman Forever' and 'Top Gun', has died aged 65. He died of pneumonia in Los Angeles, his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, told The New York Times. BJP-led Centre's Waqf Amendment Bill proposes changes in regulation of Waqf properties. It proposes to include at least two non-Muslims in Waqf Boards and give Collector powers to decide if disputed property is Waqf. It does away with concept of "Waqf by user", mandating that every Waqf property be registered on central database within six months of the law's commencement.

Commuters on national highways and expressways will have to pay more on road journeys as National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) increased toll charges by an average of 4-5% on highway sections across the country.
