Nepal’s ex-Gorkha soldiers demand recruitment of Nepali youth into Indian Army

Former Gorkha soldiers are protesting in Nepal, demanding the resumption of Nepali youth recruitment into Indian Army under Agnipath scheme. They said serving in Indian Army is hundreds of times better than working for minimum wages in Gulf nations. Nepal suspended recruitment in 2022, saying the scheme was inconsistent with provisions of 1947 Tripartite-Agreement between India, Nepal and Britain.
