Novak Djokovic knocked out of a Grand Slam in first round after more than 20 years
Twenty-four-time major champion Novak Djokovic suffered his first Grand Slam first-round defeat in over 20 years after losing to Argentina’s Mariano Navone at US Open 2026. Navone won 7-6(7-5), 5-7, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Djokovic's previous opening-round Slam loss came against Paul Goldstein at Australian Open 2006. It's also Djokovic's first Round 1 defeat in 20 US Open appearances.
