1st cargo shipment from Assam to B'desh flagged off since India's independence
A barge carrying 540 metric tonnes of methanol left Assam's Dibrugarh for Bangladesh's Dhaka on Monday, marking the first cargo shipment from Assam to a foreign port since India's independence in 1947. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the vessel from the Bogibeel terminal. The methanol, produced by Assam Petro-Chemicals Ltd, will travel about 1,300 km to Narayanganj.
