Secularism is Islamophobic, oppresses minorities by considering them Indians: Sharjeel Imam

Sharjeel Imam, jailed for 2020 Delhi riots, has been slammed for calling secularism and Hindutva "Islamophobic". Both rest on "myth of…ancient Indian nation", he said, citing Iqbal's views on Muslim nationhood. He said secularism oppresses minorities by considering them "Indians" by default and their other identities secondary. All India Imam Association chief Maulana Sajid Rashidi criticised him.
