Antarctica’s ancient mountains may have aided rise of complex life: Study

Scientists found evidence that ancient mountains, possibly as high as the Himalayas, existed in Antarctica between 650-450 million years ago, and their erosion may have altered ocean chemistry. The study said weathering of these giant mountains could have released nutrients such as phosphorus and iron into oceans, creating environmental conditions favourable for the expansion of complex life.
