Tamil Nadu Minister and DMK leader KR Periakaruppan lost the Tiruppattur Assembly seat by a margin of just one vote. He was defeated by actor Vijay's party TVK's candidate Seenivasa Sethupathy R. TVK has emerged as the single largest party in Tamil Nadu with 108 seats but failed to secure the majority of 118 seats.
