Every time a person switches their jobs, a new Member Identification Number is created under same Universal Account Number (UAN), which is a permanent identity in the EPF system. As long as all jobs are linked to the same UAN, an employee's service history and balance remain connected. One must transfer PF with each job change to reap full benefits.
