Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urged income tax officials to adopt the five R's, recognise, respond, redress, reflect and reform, to improve taxpayer services and ease of doing business. She said the department's role extends beyond tax collection to ensuring fairness, efficiency and better services. Sitharaman also called for faster disposal of pending appeals.
