National Green Tribunal (NGT) asked the Central and Madhya Pradesh's Pollution Control Board (PCB) to respond if a religious ritual of pouring 11,000 litres of milk into Narmada River violated environmental guidelines. A petition said this could affect the river's ecology, aquatic organisms and water quality. The ritual involved offering 210 sarees as well and took place on April 8.
