Maharashtra's wild elephant herd welcomed a newborn calf on November 2 in Vidarbha, taking their total population to 35. "In five years, the herd has grown from 23 to 35 elephants, and in a few years, Eastern Maharashtra will have a thriving elephant population," said Sagnik Sengupta of SAGE Foundation, which has been tracking the elephants with Maharashtra's Forest Department.
