Japan to test hypersonic missiles in Australia under new defence pact
Japan will conduct hypersonic missile and other projectile tests in Australia under a new defence arrangement, as the two countries deepen military cooperation. They are also developing a laser system to detect threats. The move follows Japan's landmark defence deal with Australia last year, under which Canberra agreed to pay A$10 billion ($7 billion) over 10 years for stealth frigates.
