The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has responded to backlash after huge potholes appeared on the new ₹12,000-crore Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. NHAI said the road caved in "due to water stagnation" as a "permanent cross-drainage system" couldn't be built "due to continued resistance from local residents." NHAI added it has commenced construction of an over 1.5 km long parallel drain.
