Protests by factory workers for wage hikes turned violent in parts of Noida on Monday. Recently, the Nayab Singh Saini-led Haryana government announced a 35% increase in minimum wages across all worker categories. Several protesters in Noida said the disparity in wages has become difficult to justify, especially as workers in neighbouring Haryana now earn more.
