Death toll from the massive 7.7-magnitude earthquake that jolted Myanmar on Friday crossed 1,600, the country's ruling junta said. The number of injured people rose to 3,408 and death toll hit 1,644 in about 30 hours since the earthquake. About 140 people are still missing in Myanmar while 50 people remain trapped under the collapsed high-rise building in Thailand's Bangkok.

Another earthquake measuring 5.1 was recorded in Myanmar on Saturday, a day after a massive 7.7 magnitude earthquake killed over 1,000 people and injured hundreds. The quake struck at a depth of 10 km and its epicentre was located 19 km southwest of the capital city of Nay Pyi Taw. Epicentre of Friday's earthquake was recorded near Mandalay.

Myanmar's ruling Junta said on Saturday at least 1,002 people have been killed in the country due to a 7.7 magnitude earthquake on Friday, adding that 2,376 people have been injured. The massive earthquake also affected parts of Thailand. Earlier, India launched "Operation Brahma" to provide humanitarian aid to Myanmar. Nearly 15 tonnes of relief material have been sent.

The massive earthquake struck at around 12.50 pm (local time) on Friday. Thailand was also impacted by the earthquake, reporting six deaths and 22 injuries.

Gold prices have hit all-time high after breaching the ₹92,000-mark for first time on Friday. The prices of the precious metal of 99.9% purity jumped ₹1,100 to hit ₹92,150/10 grams in Delhi, according to the All India Sarafa Association. Silver prices surged by ₹1,300 to trade near a record high at ₹1,03,000 per kg.
