Urine melting Mount Everest glacier
Khumbu Glacier at Mount Everest's base is losing 30 lakh kilograms of ice and snow each spring due to the thousands of climbers who stay near it for months while en route to Everest. Climbers' urine has, in fact, melted an estimated 154 tonnes of glacial ice. They pass 6,000 litres of urine daily at Khumbu, a new study found.
