Unwanted jellyfish caught in nets can have commercial value: Study

Marine biologists found that jellyfish, which are accidentally caught by fishers as bycatch, are an excellent source of pure marine collagen to use in food, medicine, and cosmetics. Fishermen cite jellyfish bycatch as a nuisance because it increases their workload. As jellyfish populations rise due to a warming climate, the study could help turn it commercially useful, researchers said.
