The name 'Civil Lines' used for residential areas in cities across India may soon be renamed under the Centre’s initiative to remove colonial-era legacies, reports said. Civil Lines were exclusive residential enclaves with superior infrastructure created to house senior British officials. Earlier, another such initiative by the government was renaming Delhi’s Race Course Road to Lok Kalyan Marg.
